Welcome to the Robotics Applied to Agriculture course, one of the four specialised courses developed by the AGRI-DIGITAL GROWTH project. After completing this course, you will gain a clear understanding of how robotic systems, intelligent technologies, and automation are transforming modern agricultural practices, from crop production to livestock and post-harvest operations. You will develop knowledge of the principles, components, and applications of agricultural robotics, and learn how these systems contribute to improved efficiency, productivity, sustainability, and data-driven decision-making in farming.
Covered topics include the fundamentals of agricultural robotics, types of robotic platforms, hardware components such as sensors and actuators, software and intelligent systems including AI and robotics programming environments, and the practical applications of robotics in crop monitoring, precision operations, autonomous field work, greenhouse management, livestock farming, logistics, and post-harvest processes.
The course has been developed by experts from the University of Maribor, which is currently testing a micro-credential certification scheme. The corresponding micro-credential programme, Advanced Robotic and Sensor Systems in Smart Agriculture (AGRO SMART), is currently awaiting accreditation by UM. Once the accreditation process has been successfully completed, participants who have completed this course will have the opportunity to enrol in the micro-credential programme. This is the only course within the project that offers such a pathway.
For questions and additional information on the micro credential accreditation, please contact Professor Jurij Rakun at jurij.rakun@um.si
